2018 BASIC EMT CLASS
The Crested Butte Fire Protection District will be offering an Emergency
Medical Technician-Basic course starting – August 22nd – December 15th 2018
This course is the first step into pre-hospital emergency medicine and
will prepare the student for basic level emergency medical field work. The
Crested Butte EMS Division pulls from this annual class to help staff the
volunteer ambulance service.

Class is limited to 20 students (first come, first serve basis) – FULL
Course Cost: $800 — which includes textbook, CPR card, clinicals, uniform and ID badge.

Course Time: Wednesdays 6p-10p, Fridays 6p-10p, occasional Saturdays 10a-6p (subject to change) (when there is a Saturday class, there will not be a Friday night class the day before)
Course Length: 180 hours including clinicals and practical testing. (12 hours ER rotation and 24 hours Ambulance rotation) In an effort to get the most out of your experience, Ambulance clinical rotations will not be allowed in Crested Butte or Gunnison as there is not enough volume to gain experience.
- National Registry Skills Exam TBA
- NREMT Written Exam can be taken after you have completed and passed your National Registry Skills Exam (This is your responsibility)
Immunization requirements: MMR, Flu Shot, Tuberculosis screening, Tetanus, Hepatitis B (optional – may sign declination form). Some clinical sites require a drug screen. (It is highly recommended these documents are obtained at your earliest convenience) You will not be able to complete your Clinical rotation without proof of these.
Drivers License background check: We will perform a Drivers License background check. These are mandatory. Please check the rules about obtaining certification through the state and National Registry if you have convictions. If you have prior Felony convictions, you will be not allowed to obtain certification.
Course Location: Station 2, in Mt. Crested Butte
